Adopt an adult pet
Many times, when we consider adopting a dog or a cat, we imagine a small one that we can raise from the beginning. We believe, mistakenly, that a puppy will be easier to educate and will get used to us and our rhythms of life more easily.
Today we come to dismantle all those myths and tell you all the benefits you will obtain if you decide to adopt an adult pet .
First of all, you are giving life: you are giving the opportunity to have a family to a dog or a cat that is not as easy as a puppy to be adopted, precisely because of the prejudices and myths that we talked about previously.
It is also important to note that an adult dog or cat, which has usually already been part of another family, and may even have been in a shelter or animal shelter, is usually calmer than a small puppy full of energy. His socialization has already occurred previously so, in most cases, he will be used to living with other people and animals.
Animal shelters and shelters can guide you about the character of the pets found there, so you will have few surprises. We must also keep in mind that when we adopt or buy a puppy, we may have misconceptions about the size it will have when it is an adult: this will not happen with pets from a certain age.
Older people, people with mobility problems or other abilities can benefit immensely from the company of an adult pet, whose character is calmer and, therefore, their need for physical activity is less than that of a puppy.
Another aspect to keep in mind is that adult pets usually know where and when to relieve themselves: cats do not see the sandbox as something strange and dogs know that their needs are done during walk time. Also in most cases they have already overcome the “destructive stage” that many dog and cat puppies go through.
And finally, by saving that pet that has unfortunately, in most cases, been abandoned, you will have a faithful companion forever .
