Our puppy's first bath

We have a new member in the family and one of the first questions is: When can I bathe him? Don't worry, we explain everything here!

The ideal is to wait after 3 months or until you have all your vaccines.
First of all, we must be aware that your first bathing experience will be key for the future. If it is traumatic or you are afraid, it is likely that you will always have that fear and you will not adapt very well.
We must make it a good, relaxing and fun experience. You must relate it to a happy moment. It will have to be done little by little, with warm water and having some sweets on hand. At first, let him smell and see everything (water, shampoo, towel...) so he can see that they are harmless objects. Wet it at first with your hand and then little by little more water. It is important to pet him so that he receives affection if he is afraid and to speak in a soft tone of voice.
Remember that water should not get into their eyes or ears. You must always use a specific shampoo for them, since it is very important to take care of the PH of their skin. Start by giving him soap on his back, scratching him so he likes it and then little by little it spreads.

When finished, it is better to dry him well with a towel, since dryers could scare him. Little by little, with the daily noises at home, he will get used to the dryer when he sees you. At that moment, you can bring him closer and when you bathe him he will know that nothing is happening and he should not be scared. Many end up liking the warm air!

The ears must be dried well to prevent them from getting wet since it is a very delicate area and, if they have long hair, we must brush them well to avoid knots.

At the end of the bath, give him lots of treats for his good behavior! ?
Your pet's skin is different from ours. They cannot be bathed continuously. The ideal is between 20-60 days. However, ask your vet since each skin is different and each dog has different needs.

If your puppy gets dirty and you need to bathe him before he is 3 months old, you should use dry shampoo or puppy wipes. With that you can solve it until he is 3 months old or has all his vaccines.
