Taking care of your pet's litter box is as important as giving it the best cat food.
A new kitten has arrived into our lives and we must adapt our home for its arrival. Now we just have to decide where we place his bed, his bowls to give him the best cat food , water, his scratching post... and what do we do with the sandbox?
The first thing we must think about is that, to avoid undesirable odors, the most suitable place is one that has good ventilation. We must also keep in mind that if there is more than one cat in the house, we must have more than one litter box so that they do not have to "queue" to use it.
Since cats are animals with a great sense of hygiene, it is advisable that the litter box be as far as possible from their food bowls. It is also important to remember that it should not be placed near appliances that can make a lot of noise, such as washing machines or dishwashers, as it can scare them and stress them out when doing their business.
One of the most used places is the bathroom, although sometimes it can be a place with little ventilation or little space. For these cases, there are corner-shaped sandboxes that can be a solution in small places. Take into account your pet's digestion at this time and provide him with the best cat food to avoid additional problems during the process.
Some of our clients have solved this by putting the sandbox inside the shower tray or bathtub, although if we only have one of these toilets at home, it can be a bit uncomfortable.
If you have a room that we do not use for sleeping, it can also be a good place to place the sandbox. Above all, we have to keep in mind that it has to be a quiet place, where the cat can relieve itself, because no one likes to be interrupted at those times, right?
With proper litter box hygiene, we will have no problem having it in any of these rooms and it will be the cat itself that tells us its place.
