To the beach with my dog
Many of us live or vacation on the coast and we would love to take our dog to the beach to walk and play, but it is not always that simple. Many municipalities do not allow dogs to enter the beaches , either in the summer season or throughout the year, but fortunately, more and more local administrations allow access to the beaches for people accompanied by their pets.
Before going to the beach with your dog, be well informed about municipal ordinances to know which ones you can enter with your dog and at what times. Many of our beaches allow access in the early morning and late afternoon, but not during the middle of the day. Red Canina offers an updated list of beaches where dogs are allowed and a description of each of them. Pay attention to the signs on the beach itself, which usually indicate whether dogs are allowed or not, whether they can play loose or must be on a leash, and other rules of use.
It is important that you prepare everything you need to go with your furry friend to the beach: bring fresh water and a container for them to drink from, their European passport containing their details and vaccinations (they may ask for it) and, of course, the bags to collect your needs. If you bring one of his toys , especially those designed for throwing, such as balls or ropes, he will have a great time.
If you are going to be there for a long time, it is advisable that you remember to bring the umbrella so that your dog can rest in the shade and there are even specific sun creams for our dogs that are recommended in the case of pink skin and short hair, because These breeds are more sensitive to the sun.
If the sand burns a lot, you can also put some protectors for the pads , in the same way that we use flip flops to avoid getting burned by the sand.
Do not let your child drink sea water when playing in the water , this can cause serious intestinal problems. If your dog is not one of those who likes to bathe in the sea, do not force him, but do pour water over him with a watering can or a spray bottle so that he can cool off and do not forget to offer him fresh water regularly.
When returning home, it is essential that you give him a fresh water shower to remove any traces of salt that may have remained on his skin and coat.
And you? Do you enjoy the beach with your pet?
